  • Weight 5.600 kg
  • Axle distance road chassis 2690 mm
  • Axle distance rail chassis 1470 mm

Engine power supply:

Deutz efficient and quiet liquid cooled diesel engine, which fulfils the TA-luft 4000 for diesel-electric aggregates. The power is 100 kW. Diesel-driven generating set 100 KJVA (Atlas Copco) 400 V DS three phase voltage for driving all functions like:

  • Driving engine
  • Hydraulic pump
  • Exhaust blower
  • Pneumatic aggregate
  • Servo –motors
  • Control system
  • Lightning equipment
  • Additional aggregates

Cooling of the diesel engine:

The cooling system of the engine is regulated automatically without any influence of the driver. All pipes are self-bleeding. Tubes and pipes are resistant against corrosion and the pipes for heating are insulated. An optical control for the level of the cooling fluid is beside the engine.

Drive:

The driving speed is infinitely variable and can be regulated automatically. It is possible to adjust the exact grinding speed. The vehicle is driven by an electric motor (11kW, controlled by a frequency converter) working on the differential drive of the rear axle. The rear axle is the driving axle on the road and on the track. On track, transmission of the driving power is realized by pressing the rear axle on the rail. (Pneumatically) The pressure is adjustable, so that it is possible to react flexible on changing conditions like extreme super elevation, rises, safety attachment and guide rails as well as saving the tyres.

Frame/ road chassis:

Bridge frame for a large working room of grinding spindles, constructed as double U—profile.

Rear axle: dual tyre axle (multicar), non spring loaded suspension, but pneumatic attachment pressing wheels against rail to transmit driving power. The rear axle is the driven axle.

Front axle: front axle (multicar) non spring loaded independent axle suspended with shear/pressure-rubber shock absorber.

Rail chassis:

On track, the 4-wheel rail chassis ensures the exact guide of the whole vehicle. The rail chassis is designed for a track gauge from 1000- up to 1500 mm. It is possible to change the gauge (infinitely variable) by an electric motor in combination with a spindle drive. The exact guide on track is ensured by a pneumatic splaying system with adjustable pressure.

Brakes:

The RoV 149 has a double circuit braking system with brakes on all four wheels. A mechanical hand brake is working on the rear axle. For the rail chassis, there is an extra parking brake.

  • Foot brake (driver’s cabin) - Working on pneumatic wheels of road chassis
for rear axle also on track usable for special cases
  • Electric engine dynamometer - Working additionally for emergency-stop-function
  • Parking brake (rail chassis) - Indirectly working air pressure brake on axle
  • Parking brake (road chassis) - Operating by air pressure and hand, working on rear axle (to use from driver’s cabin and outside)

Wheels and tyres:

Wheels and tyres correspond to the constructional requirements usual tyre sizes are mounted. Delivery with spare wheel.

Lightning/signals:

Corresponds to the requirements: elastic suspended round lights and 8 working lights.

Electrical / control:

  • 12 V DC diesel generating set / battery
  • 12 V DC vehicle lightning
  • grinding equipment
    - 400 V DS – generator
    - 230 V AC – generator
  • operating control
  • grinding function - most functions are realized over a storage programmable control (SPS)

Driving speeds:

- working speed on track: up to 5 kmh
- driving speed on track: max 20 kmh
- driving speed on road: max 20 kmh

Grinding unit:

The grinding attachment consists of two-piece frame with 4 rail wheels. Both frames halves can be adjusted electro-mechanically corresponding to each track gauge. Furthermore a pneumatic expanding system ensures a travel on track which is free of any play.

On each frame half are situated 3 grinding spindles. Out of them 2 (cup-stones, diametrer up to 100mm, optional 125 or 150mm) can be swivelled from 15° outside to 45° inside during one spindle (disc wheel, diameter up to 320mm) is able to treat the rail within angles from 45° inside to 90° inside. The adjustments of the spindles is done by a free programmable control system (SPS). The power of each spindle amounts max 15kW (depending on rotating speed)

Possible movements of cup-stone spindles:

  • lateral shift (150mm)
  • swivelling from 15° outside till 45° inside
  • feed motion/ driving back, vertical to pivot axis (200mm)
  • swivelling ± 5° to longitudinal track axis (to change aggressively and spark flying directions)
  • Possible movements of disc wheel spindles:
  • lateral swift 150 mm
  • swivelling from 45°to 90° inside
  • movement parallel to pivot axis (200mm)
  • swivelling around feed axis (feed motion), ensures a defined wheel pressure
  • swivelling ± 5° vertical to longitudinal track axis
  • All grinding wheels are mounted on a standardized grinding arbour.

The feed motion and moving back is done pneumatically by a proportional drive, so that it is possible to realize an exact wheel pressure give by a chosen program or to change it by hand even during the grinding process.

In the case of using a capable measuring system for the cross profile of the track (transverse profile), the removal could be adapted to the requirements while grinding. The rotating speed of each cup wheel is infinitely variable up to 6000 rpm. The rotating speed of the disc wheel spindles amounts 3000 rpm. The winding temperature of the grinding engines is supervised.

Exhaust:

The vehicle is equipped with an exhaust and filter attachment. Core parts are a radial exhaust blower and a cartridge dust arrester with automatic cleaning.
Power specifications: 7,5 kW fan power
8000 m3 / h blowing power

The whole grinding unit is situated inside a spark-protection and exhaust box (stainless steel). Depending on gap extensions on the ground (open or closed track) it is able to achieve an optimal result.

Hydraulics:

Only lowering of the grinding unit (means lifting vehicle) and reversal is realized by hydraulic power. With the help of a small electro-hydraulic aggregate and 4 cylinders, the unit is driven in the upper or lower stop position and locked (hydr.). The upper stop position is additionally locked (pneumatic-mechanically) to ensure arresting while driving on road.

Pneumatics:

An electric air compressor, an extra quiet high performance scroll-compressor without pistons and other touching parts inside and with pressure vessel cares for the compressed air-supply.

Pneumatic attachments are:

  • feed motion system of spindles
  • spreading attachment
  • cleaning / service connection
  • cleaning of filter
  • pressure system of rear axle
  • parking brakes (with additional air tank)

Operating the machine while grinding:

From a portable touch-screen, all necessary operating functions for grinding and driving on track can be operated without any driver in the cabin. Safety functions like emergency stop are included. Several grinding programs can be adjusted and saved. Furthermore it is possible to change the program while grinding. Driving on track without grinding (locked unit) required a driver in the cabin.
